5th annual Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis is Thursday at Pink Palace

The 5th annual Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis, a beer tasting event that raises funds for the Mid South Chapter of the National MS Society, is coming up Thursday (Feb. 27) at the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will feature homebrew and craft beer, food, a silent auction and live music, all for a great cause.

Homebrew will be served from the Bluff City Brewers & Connoisseurs and Memphis Brewers Association homebrew clubs, as well as Midsouth Malts and Bernoulli’s Beer Werks. There will also be craft beer on tap from Memphis’ High Cotton Brewing Co., Memphis Made Brewing, Wiseacre Brewing Company, Boscos and Ghost River Brewing, as well as beers from Yazoo, Shipyard, Southern Prohibition, Blue Pants, Lazy Magnolia, Schlafly and others.

Food offerings will be from Swanky’s Taco Shop (including food and beer pairings with High Cotton), Cheffie’s Cafe, Bayou Bar and Grill, Central BBQ and Tamp & Tap.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Tickets cans be purchased online here. The number of tickets available at the door will be limited.

To date, this annual event has raised in excess of $31,000, which has directly benefited the MS Society in continuing to improve the lives of individuals in the Mid-South who suffer from multiple sclerosis. MS is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system and affects 400,000 Americans.

Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis moving to Pink Palace for 4th annual event

The Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis will have a new home in 2013.

The 4th annual beer tasting event, which has raised over $21,000 to date for the Mid South Chapter of the National MS Society, will be held March 14, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis. It’s a bigger and more high-profile location for the growing event, which was previously held at Chickasaw Oaks Village.

Brew Movement is organized by local homebrewer Joe Barnes and features craft beer, homebrew, food, live music and a silent auction. And it’s all in the name of raising funds for and spreading awareness of Multiple Sclerosis, a devastating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system.

Tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased online now by going to the Brew Movement website or in person at Mid-South Malts, 741 N. White Station Road. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $35 each, cash only.

Derailleur Ale release party at Boscos on Saturday to benefit National MS Society

Boscos CyclingBoscos’ latest special beer, the Derailleur Ale, was brewed to honor the new Boscos Cycling team.

The pale ale is now on tap at the Memphis brewpub in Overton Square, and on Saturday, Sept. 1, there will be a special party to celebrate it.

The party, from 4 to 8 p.m., will feature live music on the patio from 2 Mule Plow and plenty of Boscos Cycling T-shirts and Derailleur Ale for sale. For more details about the party, check out the Facebook event page.

A portion of the proceeds from each beer sold while it’s on tap will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Boscos Cycling, comprised of 12 men and women from the Memphis area, will be participating in two 150-mile rides for the Mid-South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Memphis and Nashville, as well as the Big Dam Bridge 100 ride in Little Rock, this September and October.
