Press release:

Memphis Made Brewing Co. Growing Operations

Less than a year after starting production, Memphis’ newest brewery has already expanded its capacity.

Memphis Made Brewing Co., located in Cooper-Young, has installed three new fermenters which will allow it to brew more than twice as much fresh, local beer.

“We’re following our growth plan, although this expansion has come a little sooner than we thought,” Andy Ashby, co-founder of Memphis Made, said. “The demand for more local beer has been great and we’re working as hard as we can to fill it.”

Memphis Made currently sells and distributes kegs and bottled beer to more than 60 bars, restaurants, grocery stores and liquor stores throughout Shelby County.

This expansion will allow the company, which opened last October, to start adding more accounts.

Part of the reason Memphis Made has been able to expand is due to its hand-bottled offerings, paired with liquor stores being able to carry low-gravity beers.

Memphis Made hand bottles its beer in 750 milliliter bottles, changing styles every month or so. It’s currently releasing Bear Cat, an unfiltered India Pale Ale with Simcoe, Chinook, Citra and Mosaic hops.

The brewery has added several liquor store accounts since the law changed in early July, starting with Yorkshire Liquors in East Memphis.

“We’re really excited to carry more local beer,” Jeff Howell, co-owner of Yorkshire Liquors, said. “The changes in the law have opened up a lot of new offerings for us, including the Memphis Made beers. Our customers really like a good variety of beers, especially the local ones, and it’s been good to be able to offer these.”
