Oskar BluesColorado’s Oskar Blues Brewing Company, a pioneer in craft beer cans, is coming to Memphis.

The brewery will launch sales in the Bluff City on Sept. 9 through distributor Budweiser of Memphis.

Mama’s Little Yella Pils — which clocks in at 5.3% ABV — will be the only beer available in grocery stores. Meanwhile, in liquor stores, bar and restaurants, you’ll be able to get the higher gravity Dale’s Pale Ale, Deviant Dale’s, Old Chub and Ten FIDY, according to Budweiser of Memphis’ Austin Sawyer.

At launch, Memphis will only be getting cans of Oskar Blues, but draft sales will start about 60 days later, Sawyer said.

There will be samplings, tastings and more on the week of Sept. 9 to promote the start of Oskar Blues distribution here.

“We’ll be all over the city that week,” Sawyer said.

  1. This is great news, but is anyone else having trouble making sense of that ad? Fuhieh? Fuhcaneh? Fuhbeereh? FuhDale’sPaleAleeh?

Then again, maybe I’m just slow.

  2. This is just great news.

  3. Was just told today that Dales Pale Ale will be below our high grav limit and will be available in grocery stores. Can anyone confirm/deny? Seems unlikely.

    • High-alcohol beers in Tennessee are defined as those with alcoholic content greater than 5% by weight, or about 6.25% by volume. Dale’s Pale Ale is 6.5% ABV, according to Oskar Blues’ website. So it should be in liquor stores, not grocery stores.

  4. Thats exactly what I thought. Im assuming this rep for the distributor was confused somehow between Dales and the Pilsner.

  5. Wondering if anyone knows where to find any of OB’s canned goodness now that it should be floating around the area

  6. Picked up some dales at Busters last night. They have the stovepipes along with the 6 packs. They have the other high grav stuff as well (old chub, deviant dales, ten fidy etc).

Yorkshire said they would get it in today.

  7. @OskarBluesTN says:

We’ll be doing tastings at Poplar Wines @ 3pm, Buster’s @ 5pm, then beers & bocce in The Holding Pin of Hog & Hominy around 7pm. Hope to see you all out!
