Drink fall lagers and ales and help little kids with special needs.

That’s the idea behind the 7th Annual Harwood Center Beer Tasting next month in Memphis.

The benefit is on Friday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Chickasaw Oaks Village. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online or by calling 901-448-6580.

In addition to beer, there will be food, live music and an auction featuring rare sports and entertainment memorabilia. The event is presented by Southwestern Beverage & Distributing.

Founded in 1957, the Harwood Center is a nonprofit that provides support and education for families and children in the Mid-South from birth to age five who are affected by developmental disabilities.

Art on Tap, the annual outdoor beer tasting event at Dixon Gallery & Gardens in Memphis, is returning September 9.

More than 60 different beers will be served at the event, which will also feature local food vendors and live music. Patrons can sip beer and explore more than 17 acres of gardens at the Dixon.

Beer will be provided by local breweries Ghost River Brewing and Boscos and distributors Budweiser of Memphis and A.S. Barboro. In addition, members of the Bluff City Brewers & Connoisseurs homebrew club will be serving their beers at the tasting.

Advanced tickets are $40 for Dixon members and $50 for non-members. Day of the event, tickets are $50. The event is free for Young at Art members.

Amerigo in East Memphis is hosting a summer beer tasting tomorrow (yep, Monday) from 6 to 8 p.m.

You can sample six beers along with cheese fritters for $22 per person (before tax and gratuity).

• Mendocino Summer Ale
• Victory Summer Love Ale
• Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

Limited space is available, so call 901-761-4000 to make your reservation. Amerigo, located at 1239 Ridgeway Road, has a decent selection of craft beers on its regular menu, including brews from Brewery Ommegang and North Coast Brewing Company.

The next Zoo Brew craft beer tasting event at the Memphis Zoo is coming up Sept. 2, and presale tickets are available starting today.

Zoo members can buy tickets now before they go on sale to the general public on July 22. Tickets are $30 per person (limit 4 per household) and must be bought over the phone or in person. To purchase over the phone, call 901-333-6572.

Samples of more than 100 different beers will be poured at the next Zoo Brew.
