Lucky Town Brewing meets its fundraising goal, hosting a party for supporters

March 09, 2012 By: grant Category: Breweries

Lucky Town Brewing Company logoLucky Town Brewing Company exceeded its Kickstarter fundraising goal of $20,000 yesterday, raising (as of the time of this writing) $20,279.

The Lucky Town team plans to use the money to open Mississippi’s second brewery in Jackson. Looks like they’re well on their way!

Oh, and they’re hosting a party for their supporters. And Lucky Town is still accepting donations until Monday — I’m sure they’ll find a good use for the funds.

In the meantime, I hope the Lucky Town four are drinking deep and enjoying meeting their fundraising goal.

Congrats! Here’s to hoping I get to bring a pint of your brew to my mouth soon.

Monday is final deadline to support Lucky Town Brewing on Kickstarter

Lucky Town Brewing Company logoLucky Town Brewing Company is just over $5,000 $1,500 short of its $20,000 fundraising goal to open a brewery in Jackson, Miss. The hopeful brewers’ Kickstarter deadline is Monday, meaning if they haven’t reached their goal, they forfeit what’s been pledged already (Mike and I both made a pledge).

It’s not strictly a donation, either. It’s buy-in on only the second brewery in Mississippi, and there’s also swag: $25 gets your name on the brewery wall as one founding members and you will receive a couple koozies and stickers; $50 gets you the same, plus a T-shirt; and $100 gets you all the aforementioned plus a 1-year membership to Raise Your Pints (a non-profit organization whose mission is to help bring the highest quality beers in the world to Mississippi), RYP shirt, sticker and pint glass. Donate more than that and the swag just keeps getting better.

So, before it’s too late, hop on over to Lucky Town Brewing‘s Kickstarter page and help make the brewery in Jackson a reality.

More on Kickstarter efforts by Mississippi’s Lucky Town Brewing Company

January 26, 2012 By: mike Category: Beer in the news, Breweries, Craft beer

Lucky Town Brewing Company logoThe Mobile Press-Register had a nice story last week on Lucky Town Brewing Company, which is in the midst of a Kickstarter project to raise funds to become a commercial brewery.

Lucky Town, based in Jackson, Miss., would be the state’s second craft brewery. Through its Kickstarter project, Lucky Town is asking for $20,000 but has a higher goal of $40,000 for start-up funds.

For now, Lucky Town Brewing Company is a “very well put-together concept,” says Lucas Simmons, brewmaster for the yet-to-be brewery. He’s been homebrewing for nearly nine years, but it wasn’t until he took home awards for stout and overall high gravity beer at the 2010 Outlaw Homebrew Competition in Hattiesburg that an old college friend from Mississippi State suggested he pursue it as a career.

That friend, Chip Jones, is now distribution and sales manager for Lucky Town. Special Events Coordinator Angela Blackburn and R&D Manager Brandon Blacklidge fill out the four-person team, who are all in their late 20s or early 30s and “who kind of merged into something more [than friends],” according to Simmons. “It’s kind of been fortuitous that we’re friends, but that on top of that, we’re all hard-working and very motivated and contribute different things.”

Jackson, Miss., brewer Lucky Town launches Kickstarter project to raise funds

January 13, 2012 By: grant Category: Breweries

Lucky Town Brewing Company launched a Kickstarter project last night to raise $20,000 to start brewing at a commercial level. The money will cover license fees, insurance costs, keg expenses and ingredients. The deadline is March 12. You can support Lucky Town at various levels; $25 gets you a couple bumper stickers and can koozies.

“Mississippi suffers from some of the strictest beer legislation in the country, which is one reason why there is only one production brewery located in Mississippi currently. Since the laws do not allow for many to bring their beer to Mississippi, we at Lucky Town intend to give the local craft beer enthusiasts a broader choice, “Co-founder Chip Jones said in a email.

Check out their beers, and give ‘em some love. Or, get to know the brewers during their Be Bold Beer Run next Saturday in Jackson.
