Yazoo Brewing Company

Yazoo Brewing Company has launched a new online video series that lets fans of the Nashville brewery get answers straight from the people who make the beer.

The first “Ask a Brewer” video, which went live this week, features Yazoo’s founder Linus Hall. It touches on what beers Linus likes to drink, Yazoo tattoos, brewing internships and how well hops grow in Tennessee, among other topics.

Another Yazoo brewer will be featured next month. You can submit your own questions for “Ask a Brewer” right here: http://yazoobrew.com/askabrewer

Midtown Memphis Cash Saver unveils 96-foot cold beer box; growler fill station coming soon

On Thursday, the Cash Saver grocery store in Midtown Memphis unveiled the first of two major changes to its already impressive beer operation.

Cash Saver, which is undergoing a massive, $1.5 million renovation, debuted a 96-foot cold beer box, billed at the largest in Memphis. The store celebrated its arrival with a beer sampling event with Ghost River Brewing, Abita Beer, Schlafly Beer and Oskar Blues.

The next major piece is coming Nov. 19, and it’s something Memphis area craft beer lovers should get all hopped up about.

Cash Saver is opening a 24-tap growler fill station, likely to be the first of its kind in Memphis. A growler fill shop, The Growler Memphis, is opening soon at 921 S. Cooper in Cooper-Young, but it has not yet announced a date.

Taylor James, Cash Saver’s craft beer manager, said the growler station will be open Monday-Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store will sell growlers, but customers will be able to bring their own to fill.

Here’s video of James talking about all the changes:

If you’re not familiar with the Cash Saver, the former Piggly Wiggly at 1620 Madison Avenue has transformed itself into a destination for craft beer, with a huge selection and great prices. It features a large “make-your-own-six-pack” section and a bomber rack.

Tennessee law limits grocery stores to selling lower-gravity beers, so the store can only sell beers lower than 6.25% alcohol by volume.

Here’s the site of the soon-to-be growler fill station at the Cash Saver, in a spot that currently sells baked goods:
