Memphis homebrewer Ben Pugh is teaming up with a Memphis pizza company to launch a brewpub in Jackson, Tenn.
Pamela Denney with the Memphis Stew blog first reported plans by Jeremy Denno and Amanda Preston, the couple behind Rock ‘n Dough Pizza Co., to open a microbrewery and pizza pub later this year in Jackson. The 4,100-square-foot brewpub will be part of a new walkable community, developed in part by Henry Turley, near the University of Memphis Lambuth campus.
On Thursday night, Pugh announced his role in the venture on Facebook:
BIG news guys!!!! My new company Eclectic Ales has joined up with Memphis’ favorite food truck and second favorite pizza joint, Rock ‘N’ Dough Pizza Co., to open a brewpub in Jackson, Tennessee later this year! We are all very excited about this and are looking forward to everybody stopping by to check out the new location! Jackson, I hope you are ready for some awesome beer and pizza, it’s coming your way!!
Pugh is a great guy and a really accomplished homebrewer, having won the Boscos/Bluff City Brewers Pro-Am competition in 2010. You might have tried his Black Hearted IPA at Boscos that year. He’s also the former president of the Bluff City Brewers & Connoisseurs homebrew club and a founding member of the Memphis Brewers Association.
Congrats, Ben! We’ll post more details on FuzzyBrew when we hear more about the plans, so check back soon.
UPDATE || Here’s more from Ben on Facebook:
We will have a Blonde, a American pale ale, and a Northern English Brown as our always on tap selection. That will leave us three open taps two will be seasonal rotating selections of my choice and the third will be a homebrew tap. The homebrew tap will be where home brewers come in and brew their recipes with me on our system. Were not really going to focus on one style just whatever we feel like really. … We will also have root beer and cream soda that will be made in house and served on draft.
