A new craft brewery is in development in North Mississippi, near Oxford, that plans to open its doors next year.

Old Abbeville Brewing Company is being started by a small group of guys with a “homegrown” brewmaster, who hope to bring their handcrafted beers to the Magnolia State.

The brewery, which will include space for event rentals and on-site lodging, is about 70 miles southeast of Memphis in the town of Abbeville.

I contacted the folks behind Old Abbeville to find out who they are and what they’re planning for the brewery. Here’s what they said:

We are a small group of guys out of the Oxford area, who are passionate about beer and the people who drink it. Our beers are a pleasant mix of IPAs, APAs, and Lagers. Between our full-time jobs, and school at Ole Miss, this project has been an interesting and fun learning experience. We have an amazing group of guys dedicated to the success of Old Abbeville.

Community is a main focal point of our vision while becoming a new brewery in Mississippi. We have a “homegrown” brewmaster on our team. His knowledge of the industry, and his wisdom of good craft beer, as well as Mississippi has been key to Old Abbeville’s foundation. We plan to not only brew top-notch craft beer, but also to become an important part of Mississippi, and the people who call it home.

We continue to ask for the support of our friends and fellow Mississippians, as our road to opening is still being paved. Old Abbeville is excited about the opportunity ahead and we are doing everything to ensure that is it truly something special.”

I’ll post more details about Old Abbeville when I hear more about the project. Meanwhile, follow Old Abbeville on Facebook and check out some photos of the brewery site.
