Brewers Helping Neighbors – Boston event
Here’s an upcoming event for the Boston people. The second annual Brewers Helping Neighbors is a brewfest to benefit United South End Settlements, an agency whose mission is “to promote the stabilization and well-being of individuals and groups at risk within the community, nurture personal growth and development, build a sense of community, and foster an environment where all can thrive.”
My friend Molly Brown, who works for USES, explains more:
The South End neighborhood of Boston is simultaneously home to the second highest per capita income in the city and the third highest poverty rate. Brewers Helping Neighbors provides an opportunity for the two ends of this income inequality gap to come together to create a better community for everyone. Plus you get to drink beer!
Drinking beer for a good cause? Sounds like a good deal to me. Tickets went on sale Monday for $40, which gets you beer tastings, a taster glass and food and entertainment. It all goes down on Jan. 27, 2011 from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm at USES’ Harriet Tubman House at 566 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
Breweries supporting the event are Blue Hills Brewery, Mayflower Brewery, Mercury Brewing Company, and Clown Shoes Beer.
You can keep up to date with event news at the agency’s facebook page. South End News has a write-up of last year’s event.
